My HO Train Project
Here are some pictures of my trains that I've been slowly working on. I'm still not sure what to do, there is so much that can be done
and I'm still finding out what works and what needs to be re-done. I have about 160 feet of continuous track which doubles back, upper and lower.
The way I have it now, it can take a train of two locos and at least 41 cars. Any more than that and I will need a third GP-38 and smooth out one
curve at the top of the hill. The sharpest curve is 21" but it's just after a down hill. The other curves are 22-24"
The above industrial area has been reworked into a storage yard for rail cars but it's still not right. It will be re-done a third time (see below).
Some coal cars going into a mountain and my diesel locomotives.
A neat little culvert that sends water to a pond. To the right are two GP38's pulling 36 cars up to the mountain.
uuuuhht oooohhh!! Somebody was going too fast down that hill. We need to get a recovery team over there.
The CSX SD70mac is too big to be used just for a crane, but it's the only one available.
** May 30 2004 **
I've started rebuilding this area and there is now a lumber yard here. I just bought these three 72' center beam flat cars. They look good up close.
While testing the position of an uncoupler to see if a long train would drift when uncoupled, an accident occured.I pushed 30 cars down the hill
by hand too fast and they picked up speed after I let go. Needless to say there were several roll-overs in and outside of the mountain, but only
after it ran into the rest of the train that was stopped at the bottom.
I havn't tested the load time for dailup, but if it's too slow then please let me know and I'll shrink these pictures and make them clickable into
larger picture.
